The muscles in your abdomen need to be activated before you raise your arms for you to remain stable – something which ought to happen without you even realising it. This ensures that the movement of the body is balanced.

This video describes a recent study into 90 healthy students, which looked at their ability to  pre-activate their core muscles before they raised their arms. It was found that students with tightness and restriction in their pelvis – which they were unaware of – could not activate those muscles, but that their ability improved when they received Chiropractic care.
